Who We Are

The African and Caribbean Maastricht University Society (ACMUS),  founded in 2017, is a vibrant student-led community dedicated to celebrating the richness and diversity of African and Caribbean cultures within Maastricht University. We provide a space where students can connect, express themselves freely, and find a sense of belonging while studying away from home.

Our Target Group

While ACMUS primarily serves students of African and Caribbean descent, our doors are open to all students who wish to learn about, appreciate, and engage with our cultures. Whether you’re seeking community, cultural connection, or collaboration, you’re welcome at ACMUS.

Our Mission and Vision

We aim to empower, connect, and celebrate African and Caribbean students through cultural events, through cultural events, educational activities and meaningful community engagement. We aspire for a university environment where African and Caribbean cultures are celebrated, voices are heard, and diversity is truly embraced.

We envision ACMUS as a cornerstone of cultural exchange, empowerment, and excellence: inspiring future generations to lead with confidence and pride in their identity.

Why We Exist

University life can be exciting, but it can sometimes also feel isolating, especially when you’re part of a culture that is not widely represented around you. ACMUS was created to foster a sense of belonging and promote unity, pride, and support among students of African and Caribbean heritage. We also aim to share our cultures with the wider Maastricht community, building bridges through dialogue, education, and celebration.
