Social safety for employees and former employees

"Even when you're in doubt, just reach out."

“We’re also here for employees, both internal and external, as well as former staff members. We assist with workplace conflicts, integrity issues such as conflicts of interest, and of course, undesirable behaviour. This includes (sexual) harassment or bullying, but it’s certainly not limited to that.

The message from our Social Safety experts is: 'If you feel unsafe, contact us. Even if you're unsure or don’t know exactly who to turn to: we’ll help you move forward in any case.’”

Esther Goethart, coordinator of the Concerns en Complaints Point

How do the Social Safety experts work?

The Social Safety experts work impartially and independently. They offer you a listening ear, are a sounding board, and work with you to find a good solution to your question. There is always a colleague available who knows all the informal and formal pathways within the university and will help you determine who is best suited to assist you with your question, concern, report, or complaint. Of course, you are also welcome to simply vent. All conversations with the social safety experts are confidential.

A safe environment is essential for your growth at UM. Sexual misconduct is not something you should be confronted with. The university is here for you, whether it's to find the right help, learn more, or get actively involved. Read more about the Sexual Safety Programme.
