The UM Brussels Hub represents Maastricht University in the heart of the European Union. From Brussels, the Hub supports UM staff by strengthening connections with EU institutions, monitoring policy and funding developments, and increasing the visibility and impact of UM’s activities at the European level.

The Hub is staffed by a Brussels-based team consisting of a European Union (EU) Liaison Officer & Policy Advisor and a Communications Advisor & Community Manager. Working in close coordination with UM colleagues at central and faculty level, the team combines policy expertise, strategic networking, and targeted communications. The EU Liaison Officer & Policy Advisor focuses on EU policy, funding, and stakeholder engagement, while the Communications Advisor advises UM staff in effectively communicating their activities and ensures clear communication about the Hub’s role and work.

In addition, the Hub collaborates closely with YUFE and ASPHER on strategic activities in Brussels, pooling knowledge, experience, and networks to create synergies, strengthen ongoing initiatives, and stimulate new joint activities.
