Step-by-step plan for filing an objection, appeal or complaint

Are you a student at the UM and would you like to file an objection, appeal or complaint to the Complaints Service Point (CSP)? Then please follow these steps. First, read the information about objections, appeals or complaints.

For legal questions about filing an objection, appeal or complaint, you can contact the UM Student Deans.

After you have determined whether you can file an objection, appeal or complaint, please follow these steps.

1. Fill in the objection, appeal or complaints form

You can download this form as a Word document or PDF file.

2. Write your objection, appeal or complaint letter according to the example letter.

Describe the objection, appeal or complaint in detail and elaborate on the reasons you base your objection, appeal or complaint on.\

3. Collect and include the requested and other relevant annexes

Always include a copy of the decision you do not agree with (such as the relevant e-mail with the decision, a scan of the letter with the decision or a screenshot of the grade from the Student portal) to your objection or appeal letter.\

4. Submit everything on time to the CSP

The applicable deadline for submitting an objection, appeal or complaint is usually six weeks, but please consult the pages about the deadlines for the exact details.

You can submit your objection, appeal or complaint to the CSP in three ways:

Send the documents by email toCSP.\ Please make sure to sign your objection, appeal or complaint and add the signed document to your email.

Send the documents by post to:

Hand the documents over in person at the Student Services Centre (SSC):\ Please put the following directions on the envelope in a clear and legible script: "attn. Complaints Service Point (CSP)".
