At Maastricht University (UM), we have a number of steps in our application process. You can find general information about applying on this page. Detailed information can be found on the ‘Admission & registration’ page under the programme of your choice.

## Choose your programme

The first step is to choose your education programme and look at the ‘Admission requirements’ page to see if you qualify for admission. Find your programme:

- [bachelor’s programmes](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/education/bachelor)
- [master’s programmes](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/education/master)
- [pre-master’s programmes](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/education/pre-masters-programmes)

## Apply via Studielink

After confirming that you meet the requirements, you will need to apply via [Studielink](https://www.studielink.nl/). Studielink is the Dutch central organisation that keeps track of applications and enrolments at higher education institutes in the Netherlands.

## MyApplication portal

After you apply in Studielink, we will send you an email that explains how to log in to the MyApplication portal, our Maastricht University environment where you can upload the documents that are required for admission to your study programme.

Keep in mind that it takes us time to evaluate your documents, so please begin applying well before the deadline.

## Selective programmes

Some programmes have a selection process. Check out our overview of [free, selective and numerus fixus bachelor’s programmes](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/free-selective-and-fixus-bachelors-programmes). To find out if your master’s programme has a selection process, visit the specific programme’s webpage**.**\

Most applicants who received their previous education in a non-EU/EEA country will need to pay a handling fee to cover the cost of diploma evaluation.\
- [Using your existing DigiD from abroad](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/studeren/toelating-inschrijving/aanmelden-bij-universiteit-maastricht/using-your-existing-digid "Using your existing DigiD from abroad")\
If you are registered as a resident in a Dutch municipality, you must use your DigiD to apply via Studielink. However, the DigiD does not always work if you are (temporarily) abroad. Find out more.\
