Self-mutual aid for visually impaired youth
Based on the many years of experience of the self-help group for visually impaired adults and the elderly, a new self-help group was set up in Padua for visually impaired young people between 15 and 27 years of age, with the support of the Regional Centre for Visual Rehabilitation of Low Vision, the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Padua and the association Psicologo di Strada (Street Psychologist). The group is based on the principles of self-help and group experiences for people sharing the same problem, that are coordinated by a facilitator. The group is open to all interested parties (if the participant is under 18 years of age, a written consent signed by both parents is required) with meetings at the Regional Centre for Visual Rehabilitation, one of the Italian excellences in rehabilitation medicine. Meetings are held in presence approximately once a month. The next meeting is scheduled for September, after the summer break; to attend, one must make a reservation at 3472440685 or at cristiano.draghi@libero.it, project manager for Street Psychologist.
