Freshers' welcome
This section, intended for new freshmen, provides information and useful links on the initiatives that the University of Padua dedicates to aspiring students. These include the 'Welcome Day' in the presence of the Rector and the 'Meetings with Freshers'.
Freshers’ initiatives
Università porte aperte\ On this occasion, degree course presidents or their delegates, accompanied by tutors, welcome freshmen; a time to introduce those enrolled in the first year of university studies to the new cycle, to introduce them to the organisation of teaching, services and various opportunities.\ Calendar of meetings 2024
Unincontro\ Traditionally every year, after the enrolment deadline and before the start of classes, the University organises a welcome day for new freshmen.\ Over the past few years, the event, which has taken the title 'Unincontro', has developed into a talk-show in which researchers, graduates and experts talk to students about life and prospects at the university and in the world of work. This is followed by an evening event that usually welcomes a prominent figure from the world of art or entertainment. In recent years, the University has hosted names such as Sergio Cammariere, Natalino Balasso, Gene Gnocchi, Marco Baliani, Laura Curino, Giovanni Vernia, David Riondino and Paolo Cevoli.
Welcome to international students
The institutional Welcome meeting (Unincontro followed by The Academy Night) is generally scheduled in October (in 2024 it is 3 October), and is held in dual mode (presence and online). The rector welcomes international students enrolled in the first year of one of the study courses activated by the University of Padua.
Welcome Meetings: in September and October, meetings are scheduled for international students enrolled in English-language study courses, including master's degree courses, during which information is provided on dedicated services and teaching methods.\ Programme 2024
Welcome days. Welcome days dedicated to students arriving at the University of Padua through international mobility programmes. They are held at the beginning of each semester, and students have the opportunity to attend both the information meetings, which are held exclusively online (Italian time), and the social events, which are online or in person.
Open University. The presidents of degree courses or their delegates, accompanied by tutors, welcome freshmen every year: an opportunity to introduce the new cycle of university studies to all students enrolled in the first year, to introduce them to the organisation of teaching, services and opportunities.
Residence permit\ The SAOS Desk (Immigration Support Service) organises a series of online meetings to explain how to fill out the residence permit application, every Thursday at 12 noon from 5 September to 10 October 2024.
Campus Tours: in September and October, international students enrolled in the first year have the opportunity to explore and learn about university facilities, canteens, study rooms and libraries accompanied by university students. The tours follow two alternative routes: one in the centre of Padua and one in the Piovego/hospital area.\ Programme 2024
Global Citizenship Programme: a 10-hour course designed for international students enrolled in the first year, with the aim of helping them to develop intercultural competences and to apply them concretely in everyday life, also addressing global challenges, such as the protection of human rights, global health, gender equality and environmental protection. At the end of the course students receive an open badge.\ Academic year programme 2024-2025
