The University recognises the dual career student-athlete eligibility for students who compete for selection as they practise a sporting discipline recognised by CONI or CIP, are represented at the Olympics/Paralympics and have achieved results of particular competitive significance.

In addition to the sporting requirements laid down in the Call for applications, you must have obtained

for those enrolled in years after the first: at least 20 CFUs in the previous academic year;
for first-year students: at least 6 CFU by the first examination session (February).

Necessary requirements and facilities

Eligibility will be agreed if the athlete has been called to join, both for individual sports and for team sports, representative teams of Italy and/or her/his own country through national federations and represented at the Olympic/Paralympic Games, or if he/she has achieved podium finishes in European or World Championships. Coaches, trainers and referees called up to represent Italy at the Olympics/Paralympics, those who play in national championships for sports clubs with which Unipd has a framework agreement.

The University may grant eligible students an annual contribution, the assignment of a tutor, the possibility of agreeing with the lecturer on a different exam date in the same session, the authorisation not to count the absence from compulsory attendance of a lesson or laboratory, psychological and motivational support, the possibility of requesting a suspension of studies for preparation for and participation in international sporting events and certification of sporting merit recognised as a student-athlete in the Diploma Supplement.

Dual career student-athlets 2025/26

For the tenth edition of the Dual career student-athlete organized by the University of Padua, the dual qualification of student-athlete was awarded to 132 athletes.

54 athletes distinguished themselves in their category and specialty with outstanding results, achieving the following milestones

1 World Champion – gold medal and new record in cycling;
1 athlete selected for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, para-cycling;
2 selections for international competitions, in para-badminton and volleyball (Deaflympics);
1 World and European Champion in paratriathlon;
1 World Vice-Champion – silver medal at the U21 Volleyball World Championships;
1 World Bronze Medalist in foil fencing;
9 podium finishes at the European Championships – 3 silvers in water polo, 2 in compound archery, 2 in athletics (race walk and high jump), and first and third place in handball;
12 Italian Champions in triple jump, hurdles, rowing and speed skating, 4×400 m relay – athletics, canoe–Canadian, archery, handball, and rugby;
3 podiums at National Championships – silver medals in pole vault, long jump, and the 4×100 m relay in athletics;
2 National Bronze Medalists in triple jump (athletics) and Taekwondo;
1 National Champion and athlete selected for the national team (Croatia) in sabre fencing;
5 victories in Italian Championships with promotion to a higher category in handball, volleyball, and rugby;
15 athletes selected for the national team for national and international competitions (athletics – pole vault, canoeing, swimming, handball, water polo, volleyball, rugby);
1 athlete selected for the national team of their own country (Croatia).

A further 77 athletes are members of clubs with which the University has signed a framework agreement and will play in the national championships of the sports disciplines of basketball, baseball, hockey, volleyball and rugby for the 2025/26 sports season.

Dual career student-athlets 2024/2025

For the ninth edition of the Dual career student-athlete organized by the University of Padua, the dual qualification of student-athlete was awarded to 111 athletes.\ 46 athletes distinguished themselves in their category and specialty with outstanding results, achieving the following milestones

1 World champion, Paralympic, silver medallist in triathlon
2 European champions in women's water polo ('Len Champions league Women')
7 convocations in World Championships (athletics, cycling, canoe-kayak)
2 convoked for European Championships (football, shooting)
1 convocation for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 (sabre)
4 convened for the 6 Nations rugby tournament (women's U20 and men's U18)
16 convened for national and non-national competitions (boxing, archery, fencing...)
8 Italian champions in athletics
1 overall Italian Champion in volleyball
1 overall Italian Champion in archery;
2 Italian Champion in the discipline of sabre;
1 Italian Handball Champion

A further 65 athletes are members of clubs with which the University has signed a framework agreement and will play in the national championships of the sports disciplines of basketball, handball, volleyball and rugby for the 2024/25 sports season.

Dual career student-athlete 2023-2024

For the eighth edition of the Dual Career Student Athlete organised by the University of Padua, the dual student-athlete qualification was awarded to 60 athletes who distinguished themselves in their category and speciality with outstanding results.\ The following results were obtained (in the years 2022 and/or 2023):

2 European podium, with convocation with the national team
1 National and European podium, with convocation with the national team
2 Athletes Italian Champions, with convocation with the national team
14 athletes Italian Champions
16 athletes convoked with the national team
20 athletes registered with the Unipd framework agreement teams

For the current edition, 56 athletes and athletes competing with the Cus Padova teams in the men's and women's basketball and volleyball championships were also recognised for their double career.
