The Your Future, Start Now programme, open to all first-year undergraduates, is a series of workshops designed to kickstart your career development.
After the workshops, you can apply for a week-long, paid internship with a real employer.
"Now that I've finished the program and completed my micro-internship as apart of YFSN, I would say that what I hoped to get out by participating in YFSN was achieved. It has massively boosted my confidence and knowledge on the world of work. The workshops were helpful to reflect on my skills, and to identify where I am implementing them in my life. And the micro-internship gave me another experience that I can reflect back on for my future career path."

Eligibility
First-year undergraduates studying at the University of St Andrews.
Benefits
In the programme, you will hear from alumni, industry experts and the Careers Centre team.
You will:
- learn about the world of work
- understand and develop the key transferable skills employers look for, and learn how to demonstrate them
- develop the self-awareness needed for making career decisions
- build a network of contacts
- begin to reflect on your journey through the programme.
Through applying for an internship, you will get application and interview experience. By completing the internship, you will put what you’ve learned from the workshops into practice, while gaining real work experience.

We encourage an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual respect.
If you are accepted onto the programme, you should ensure you are available to attend every workshop.
