If you are a student who normally lives in England, you are likely to have a fee status of 'RUK (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland)'. This means you may be eligible to apply for support and funding to help you cover the costs of university.

Tuition fees

As a student at the University of St Andrews, you will be expected to pay fees every year that you are in attendance. Fees may increase annually during the course of your study. The amount you will have to pay depends upon the degree you are studying for and your fee status.

Tuition fees for 2026-2027 are expected to be £9,790.

Applicants who defer their entry to the following year after receiving an offer may be required to pay a fee subject to an inflationary increase.

Bursaries and scholarships

The University of St Andrews is committed to attracting the very best students regardless of their financial circumstances. We offer a large number of bursaries and scholarships to undergraduate students, and there are also a number of external grants offered from outside the University.

See is a list of bursaries and scholarships that may be available to you as an English-domiciled student.

Student finance

You may be eligible to have the full cost of your tuition fees covered by a tuition fee loan provided you:

The tuition fee loan is provided by Student Finance England, is non-means tested, and paid directly to the institution by the Student Loans Company.

You can apply for loans and additional support to help with living costs whilst at university. The level of entitlement depends on family income.

Visit the Student Finance England webpages for full eligibility criteria and for details on how and when to apply.

Repayments on student loans will start after you graduate or leave university, provided you are earning over a certain threshold per year. Visit the Student Loan Repayment webpages for full details.
