The Careers Centre offers an Internship Experience Certificate (IEC) that recognises undergraduate and postgraduate taught students who have undertaken professional-level work experience.

Benefits of the IEC include:

The IEC can only be awarded once, but there is no limit to the amount of work experience case studies you can submit.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the IEC, you must:

Your internship could be remote or in person.

If an internship is part of your studies, the Careers Centre cannot recognise it through the IEC.

Gaining the IEC

Complete the Internship Experience Certificate form (Word) and email it to careerexperiences@st-andrews.ac.uk. When completing the form, show how your experience has helped you develop your career-seeking and employability skills.

If you have undertaken an external internship, include an email, letter or certificate of completion from the employer or organisation.

Most students can email their work experience form at any time in the academic year. Final-year students should do this by the end of May so the IEC can be added to their HEAR before graduation in June.
