Global Office

The Global Office is based in room A11 in the Bute Building:

• Samantha Lister – Director of the Global Office
• Bronagh Masterson – Student Mobility Officer (Outbound)
• Lali Grifell Perea – Senor Registry Administrator

The Global Office runs student consultation hours to answer questions relating to the BA (International Honours) programme and your time in St Andrews. Current students can book an appointment with a member of the Global Office or visit the team during drop-in hours from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Advice and Support Centre (ASC) and Student Services

The ASC is the primary information point for all students of St Andrews and you can pop in there with any questions or concerns. You can also complete this form to contact the ASC.

There are a number of ways in which Student Services are focused on helping students at St Andrews achieve what they deserve: the best university experience possible. All students, all people, come across barriers in life when they do not know where to go or how to proceed. They need guidance, a pointer, a reflection to offer them a route to follow, or a tool to get over a hurdle and back on track. Student Services can provide this.

International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute (IELLI)

IELLI offers a range of academic and development services to undergraduate students. We recommend that WaMStA students familiarise themselves with the services and use the academic skills support available.

Adjusting to a new academic culture can be challenging and IELLI's services will be useful in helping you to familiarise yourself with academic expectations at St Andrews, such as essay writing and assessment, as well as academic rules and regulations.

'Friendly' Econ Scheme

Sub-honours students in Economics should also note 'Friendly' Econ, a student-run tutoring scheme organised jointly by CEED and the St Andrews Economics Society. The tutors are honours students selected based on their academic excellence and strong personal skills. This ensures that the sessions are run in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, where the tutor guides the student towards discovering the solution.

Economics Honours students provide support with:

• understanding economic concepts
• performing mathematical calculations
• solving tutorial questions.

Careers Centre

The Careers Centre has a variety of tools and resources for all students, and also runs specific events aimed at BA (International Honours) students seeking to highlight their unique educational experience to employers in the UK, the US and across the world. Students may consult directly with Jenyth Macdonald, the North American Opportunities Manager, who organises events and resources for WaMStA students.
