# The Baroness Hale Legal Clinic

### The Baroness Hale Legal Clinic - Mission Statement

York Law School Clinic aims to enhance the education of our law students and promote justice.\
We will achieve this by:

- Providing free high-quality legal advice and information to members of the public, in particular those who cannot afford to pay for such services.
- Providing our students with the opportunity to work on live cases thereby developing their skills and understanding of law in context.
- Applying and developing innovative experiential learning and teaching methods.
- Improving our students’ professional and ethical awareness, and instilling a lifelong commitment to access to justice for all.
- Encouraging our students to become legal activists, using law and legal skills to promote justice, and developing innovative research related to access to justice and clinical legal education issues.

### Climate justice pledge

Climate change is one of the most significant social justice issues we face. Its impacts will be felt most by the poorest and most vulnerable. As a student law clinic with a commitment to social justice, we commit to raising awareness of the issue of climate change in our teaching, research and activism; and to finding ways to support law students to contribute to the struggle for climate justice.
