To reward excellence, the Dean's Global Excellence Scholarship offers a tuition fee discount to talented undergraduate students within the faculties.

This bursary is for students who are under 25 when they start their studies, and who also meet one of the following conditions: come to York as a care leaver (or through the national Foyer Federation), or who are irreconcilably estranged from their parents (or both parents have passed away).

Undergraduate prizes
Several prizes are awarded annually for the performance of our Chemistry undergraduates.
Prizes based on performance specific to the degree course:
- Whinfield Medal (MChem) for best performance overall on an MChem course
- Whinfield Medal (BSc) for best performance overall on a BSc course
- Margaret Bishop prize for best MChem (at York) Project
- AstraZeneca prize (Examination) for the best examination performance in Year 2
- AstraZeneca Prize (Practical) for the best performance on practical work in the core course in Year 2
- The David Rowe Prize in Green and Sustainable Chemistry for the best performance in Year 2
- The David Rowe Prize for Atmospheric and Environmental Chemistry for the best performance in Year 2
Vacation Research Bursaries
Our department offers a number of research bursaries to students in the summer between their second and third year to gain laboratory based work experience. Application details will be circulated to eligible students at the beginning of Semester 2.
