Open Days
If you are thinking of applying for one of our undergraduate courses, you may find it helpful to attend one of our Open Days. Staff and current students will be on hand to offer information and answer questions about admissions, courses and student life.
You can visit the Department, attend talks about studying chemistry at York, obtain information about our courses, and explore the teaching and research facilities. You will also be able to find out more about the University in general, explore our campus and visit student accommodation. Members of your family are welcome to come with you and join in the events.
Open Days usually run in July and September with other visit days running throughout the year.
Chemistry visit days
If you didn't attend a University Open Day, but you've applied to study at York, we'll invite you to a pre-offer visit day. This allows you to see the Department and teaching facilities, and meet members of staff and students, and allows us to learn a bit more about you.
We aim to make these days as informative, interesting and relaxing as possible, and of course, we are very happy for you to bring parents, carers or guests along too if you wish to do so.
Visit days are not only aimed at finding out more about you; they are very much an opportunity for you to find out about us. During your visit you will:
- have a look at our teaching facilities, including our professional-standard undergraduate teaching laboratories
- meet members of staff and current students
- have a sample of our Chemistry teaching
- have the opportunity to ask any questions from members of our admissions team
- receive a free lunch for you and your guests.
You will be sent a programme for the day before you come for your visit. These usually take place between November and March.
