# Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Courses

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science offers Continuing Professional Development in a range of areas, from linguistic science to language teaching 

## Conversation Analysis

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Language and Communication offers Continuing Professional Development courses in Conversation Analysis. These courses are taught by staff in the Department of Language and Linguistic Science and Department of Sociology and cover key analytic tools and methodological techniques used in analysing social interaction across a range of settings. Previously taught courses include *Introduction to Conversation Analysis*, *Communication in Medical and Healthcare Interactions*, *Phonetics of Talk-in-Interaction* and *Methods in Conversation Analysis*.

## English Language

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science runs free CPD workshops for English Language A-level teachers where members of the academic staff present their latest research on English and provide flexible teaching resources that workshop participants can adapt for use in their classrooms. The workshop generally runs annually.
