Renowned on a global scale, the Centre for Conservation Studies is a beacon for students and professionals alike to join a vibrant community dedicated to preserving and managing our rich cultural past.- Established over 50 years ago, our trailblazing Masters courses are rooted in the groundbreaking [Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies](https://borthcat.york.ac.uk/index.php/university-of-york-institute-of-advanced-architectural-studies) (IAAS).

Our dynamic community is led by outstanding practitioners and scholars who are all leaders in their fields of conservation, buildings archaeology and heritage. York is a special place for buildings and conservation - unlike so many other cities and towns York has retained a remarkable legacy of historic buildings - these show how buildings and places adapt through time and underpins our York approach.

Working closely with our city partners we use York as a living conservation laboratory to understand how building use and adaptation in the past can shape decisions for future use and adaptation.

Our postgraduate offerings draw in a diverse cohort of students, researchers, and professionals from every corner of the world. The progressive vision, multidisciplinary approach and international profile make York a global centre for conservation of cultural heritage.
