York Law School is an inspirational place for study and research. We have a distinctive approach to legal education and scholarship, focused around problem-based learning and development of skills.

Our tutors come from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. They have diverse interests in their areas of research and legal education practice.

Our research builds on a rich tradition of strong, impactful interdisciplinary work, and aims to reshape agendas on key social challenges.

Our work is marked by a strong sense of intellectual community and a commitment to nurturing and developing outstanding legal minds.

Through our Baroness Hale Legal Clinic, we provide free legal advice and guidance to members of the public on real and current encounters.

York Law Society also offers students further opportunities to develop their skills and get involved in various networking opportunities.

We aim to offer a distinctive space for socially engaged legal scholarship and innovative problem-based teaching and learning. We foster intellectual curiosity about the world of law and the wider social, environmental, political and economic contexts in which lawyers operate.
