We have an ambitious vision to be a world-leading centre of science research and teaching, underpinned by the institutional ethos of being a University for Public Good.

Our commitment to excellence in our teaching is reflected in the prestigious accreditations we hold from key external bodies such as the Institution of Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Physics, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the Royal Society of Biology, and the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Our teaching staff have been recognised with prestigious awards such as Advance HE National Teaching Fellowships in Chemistry and Biology, an Advance HE Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence, a Green Gown Award and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Midwives.

We are deeply committed to access, participation, and progression in science, demonstrated through initiatives like the White Rose Industrial Physics Academy project in the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology, the Cultivate project in Environment and Geography, and the Hull York Medicine School Gateway into Medicine programme.
