Careers and Development Programme

\ *Chris Wilkinson            *

I am the full time Employability Tutor in the York Law School (YLS) and my main role is to advise students individually and in groups on matters such as application forms, covering letters, CVs and interview and assessment centre techniques, as well as more general career planning.

I have designed and implemented the YLS Careers & Development Programme, a copy of which can be seen below. This programme includes work experience opportunities for first and second years, in the form of 'Link Days', as well as the chance of being matched up with a professional mentor via the various Mentoring Schemes on offer. In addition, students are provided with individual guidance via 'one to one' appointments, and by e-mail, in relation to varied areas of employment.

Alumni from YLS can be contacted easily via a dedicated Linkedin group and there will also be events taking place throughout the academic year, where students will be able to network with alumni from both legal and non-legal related professions.

YLS is committed to helping students to find out about the many and varied opportunities available to them and to provide advice and guidance in relation to those routes.
