Explore the wonders of the universe at the Astrocampus, the University of York’s observatory.

With a wide range of telescopes and space-themed activities for all ages, the site is open to groups and individuals from November to March. We offer visits for the public, school groups and Brownie/Cub groups.

Walk the Solar System

The Solar System model stretches across the University of York campus, starting at the Astrocampus on Campus West and ending with the dwarf planet Pluto at Constantine College on Campus East.

Cycle the Solar System

This scale model of the Solar System is spread out along 10km / 6.4 miles of the old East Coast mainline railway - now part of the National Cycle Network route 65 and the Trans Pennine Trail. Along the route, you can find scale models of all the planets in our Solar System, as well as models of the Cassini and Voyager spacecraft.
