York Trials Unit is a leading UK centre for the design, management and reporting of randomised controlled trials.
Pragmatic and collaborative
We address important health and care questions that arise in real world settings. From hospitals and care homes to schools, prisons, and local communities. Together with professionals and members of the public, we design and deliver research that matters to their work and their lives.
Multidisciplinary and innovative
Our large, multidisciplinary team has the knowledge, skills and facilities required to take randomised controlled trials from inception to successful completion. Our methodological research helps us to continually enhance and innovate trial design and delivery.
YTU areas of expertise
YTU staff consists of experts in statistics, data management, software design, health economics, qualitative research, trial conduct research, methodological research, studies within a trial, patient and public involvement, and administrative support.

We are a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit, an RCS Surgical Trials Centre, part of the BHF Clinical Research Collaborative and a Research Support Service Hub delivered by University of York and Partners.
This unit receives National Institute for Health Research CTU Support Funding. This funding has been awarded to support the unit in developing and supporting NIHR trials.
