The Student Communities programme is funded through the University's Access and Participation Plan and offered to UK (Home) undergraduate students from groups currently under-represented at university.

Am I eligible for the Student Communities programme?

If you are a Home (UK) Undergraduatestudent who belongs to one of the groups listed below you are eligible for the support we offer through the Student Communities programme:

Disabled students Local and commuting students Mature students (21+)
Students with care experience Estranged students Refugees and students seeking asylum in the UK
Students who are the first generation in their family to go to university Students from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background Students who identify as LGBTQ+
Students from a low income household Students with caring responsibilities for a family member Students with children
Students from a Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showmen or Boater background

When you complete the University’s online enrolment/ re-enrolment task (at the start of the academic year) if, when asked, you tell us that you belong to one of the groups listed above you should automatically receive our weekly Student Communities newsletter which will enable you to find out about the events and support we offer.

There is also an opportunity to tell us that you belong to one of our Student Communities later on in the academic year by completing ourStudent Communities Registration Form’.Once this has been submitted we will add your details to our mailing list. You can of course opt out of receiving our Student Communities newsletter at anytime.
