Sustainable and inclusive field trips

Field trips allow you to observe and engage with natural and human environments.

As you experience geographical processes, landscapes and communities firsthand, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how theory applies in the field.

You'll develop critical skills such as data collection, analysis and problem-solving, while practising independent thinking and teamwork. These practical experiences create a stronger connection to the environment and help you understand the challenges we face, preparing you for applications in your future career.

The trip was a great way to get to know people better – you’re walking with your course mates all day, so take the opportunity to talk to them! You’ll be studying alongside them for the next couple of years, so it’s good to make friends.

The Department covers the full cost of Year 1 and Year 2 trips. The Year 3 trip, as part of an optional module, requires a small nominal fee.
