The Centre for the History of Philosophy (CHiPhi) in the North isone of the UK’s largest groups of scholars working in the history of philosophy.

CHiPhi was established in 2009 with a grant from the White Rose University Consortium to bring together the wide-ranging expertise in the history of philosophy at several universities in the North of England, and to consolidate and promote research and teaching in the field.

CHiPhi member institutions currently include the Universities of Durham, Leeds, LiverpoolSheffield, and York.

As one of the UK’s largest groups of scholars working in the history of philosophy, our aim is to develop and maintain an international network to encourage research and disseminate its results through collaborative events, projects, and teaching. We have links with a number of centres and institutions around the world.
