Our short courses and summer schools are for students from around the world. They provide an opportunity to sample life at a leading UK university, located in a beautiful, lively and cultured city.

## York Global Summer Schools 2026

Join us in summer 2026 and get a taste of what it means to study at a top university in the UK.

### English Language, British Culture and Intercultural Skills

Our university level programme includes a choice of study modules informed by the University’s research, talks by leading academics, an introduction to the York Strengths Employability Skills programme, academic skills sessions as well as free time activities.

## Bespoke courses

We work with our partner universities to provide courses that suit your requirements. Our courses include classroom study as well as trips to places of local and historical interest.

- [Summer schools](https://www.york.ac.uk/study/international/applying/summer-schools-and-short-courses/summer/): typically two-week courses focusing on an academic discipline.
- [Short courses](https://www.york.ac.uk/study/international/applying/summer-schools-and-short-courses/short/): one to sixteen-week courses which run throughout the year focussing on areas such as communication and intercultural awareness, as well as other bespoke courses.
