About the award

Our Exeter Excellence Scholarships recognise outstanding academic achievement, offering funding to help cover the costs of studying at the University of Exeter. We are committed to attracting talented students from around the world to become part of our dynamic university environment, where you will have access to exceptional teaching, learning, and academic research whilst contributing to our vibrant global community.

Scholarships available:

Awards of £3,000, £5,000 or £10,000 are being offered by the following departments:

Environment, Science and Economy

Health and Life Sciences

Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

All campus-based Postgraduate taught degrees (Masters) in the above areas are eligible, except the following:

Ineligible PGT programmes - One Planet MBA; MA  International Film Business; MSc Island Biodiversity and Conservation; Clinical Psychology programmes delivered by Clinical Education, Development and Research (CEDAR); DEdPsych Educational Child and Community Psychology; Master of Public Administration (MPA) with Applied Study; Law programmes delivered by the University of Law, MA Law (SQE1), MA Law (Conversion), LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1&2), SQE Preparation Courses); Graduate Law LLB ; MiPDAL Dual Masters in Intellectual Property Law; Postgraduate Certificates; Postgraduate Diplomas; Degree Apprenticeships. Fully online or distance learning programmes are also not eligible.

To be considered for one of these scholarships, once you have your programme offer, please apply using the webform here

A personal statement (of no more than 300 words) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:

  1. What are your ambitions for the future and how will your studies at Exeter help you to achieve them?
  2. What will you contribute to the study experience/environment on campus at Exeter?
  3. As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?

**Round 1 of this scholarship scheme has closed. Eligible offer holders who applied by 15 January 2026 will be notified of the outcome of their scholarship application by 12 February 2026.**

**Round 2 opened on 28 January 2026 and closes on 18 June 2026. Eligible offer holders who apply in this period will be notified of the outcome of their scholarship application within one month of applying.**

These scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the first-year International tuition fees. They are not recurrent for subsequent years of study. They can be combined with a University of Exeter Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 2026/27 for Bangladesh, Canada, China (mainland), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye or Vietnam to a maximum award value of £10,000. (If the combined value of these two scholarships would exceed £10,000 the value of the Exeter Excellence award will be reduced to stay within this limit.)
