Our Vision

Led by world-class researchers in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Societies and Cultures Institute (SCI) encourages and enables innovation, interdisciplinarity, global partnerships and real-world impact in HASS research. SCI is building a community across the University of Exeter, regionally, nationally and internationally to define future approaches and applications of HASS which can address present challenges and deliver outcomes of lasting value.

Welcome from the Director

SCI is above all a community of researchers which shares a commitment to innovation and interdisciplinarity.

Our purpose is to create opportunities for fresh ideas and far-reaching collaborations and partnerships to form and flourish, to position research with its roots in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the frontiers of discovery, policy-making and social action.

Here we hope you will find an event, project, training prospect or funding opportunity which inspires you to join us.
