Entry requirements

The information below will allow you to check qualifications from your country or territory to see if they may be accepted for entry to the University of Exeter, and the equivalent grades required. Our course pages contain typical entry requirements that are commonly held by UK applicants. You can find out details on our English language requirements here.

Undergraduate entry requirements

Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Azerbaijan

Students who hold the Certificate of General Education / Attestat (year 11) will be required to complete an appropriate foundation to be considered for entry, such as one of our International Study Centre courses or equivalent.

In some cases, students who have completed the first year of an Azeri Bachelors degree with high grades will be considered for direct entry to the first year of a Bachelors degree, but in most cases they will be considered for one of our foundation year courses.

Our typical offer for GCE A levels is: AAA–ABB, excluding General Studies or 36–32 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma, including bonus points. Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant page of our undergraduate courses.

All applications for undergraduate degrees must be made via UCAS and must include details of qualifications obtained and awaited along with a personal statement and reference, preferably from a teacher. Exeter's UCAS code and name is E84 EXETR. The UCAS website indicates which courses are open to new applicants at any time. Please note that it is normal for UK universities to make conditional offers based on your results to date and to confirm these once you have the results of High School and/or language tests.

The University accepts a wide range of international qualifications. As competition for places is strong, good grades are always required and an early application is recommended. All applicants for Medicine must apply by 15 October each year. We recommend applicants for all other programmes apply by 15 January, as the course may be full after this point.

Postgraduate entry requirements

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Azerbaijan

Postgraduate Taught

Applicants with a 4-year Bachelors degree, 5-year Specialist Diploma or a Masters degree from a recognised Azeri university will be considered for direct entry to Masters courses.

Typically we require applicants for taught Masters programmes (MA, MSc, MRes, MBA, MPA, LLM) to hold a Bachelors degree (usually in a relevant subject) with a grade equivalent to a UK Upper Second-class Honours. Please see our Masters courses for any additional or alternative programme requirements.

In some instances, if your grades or local qualifications do not meet our normal entry requirements, it may be possible to complete a Graduate Diploma via the International Study Centre as an entry route to one of our Business Masters courses or Finance Masters courses.

Postgraduate Research

For entry onto postgraduate research programmes (including PhD) you will need to hold a relevant Masters degree, supported by a strong research proposal. Research students may be able to start their programme of study at various times with their supervisor's agreement.

Alp, studying MSc International Management

"The Business School took care of me and made me feel safe. The orientation week was incredibly helpful, I only felt homesick the first night I arrived and that was it. Campus was beautiful, friendships were amazing. I also enjoyed my studies as my teachers were great professionals with exceptional teaching skills.

The University Business School has a very good reputation. The student affairs team was very good. The campus was amazing."

Talat, graduated in MSc Water Engineering and Management

"I chose Exeter because of the globally renowned staff. The thing I enjoyed most about studying at the University is beautiful Exeter/ Devon, probably the best place in the world.

The technical skills are undeniable. However, I think the social skills I have gained during my studies are more and more beneficial and useful. "
