# Commitment to EDI

The [Faculty of Health and Life Sciences](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/faculties/hls/index.php) within which the Clinical Academic Training Programme sits, supports and values diversity, and is committed to advancing equality for all our staff and students, regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

All Departments, in which our clinical academic trainees are based, hold silver Athena SWAN awards, recognising the commitment to gender equality, alongside implementing a number of [initiatives](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/faculties/hls/about/equalitydiversityandinclusion/raceequality/) to improve race equality. Furthermore, the University of Exeter is a signatory to the [Research Development Concordant](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/staff/exeteracademic/yourdevelopment/researchdevelopment/researcherdevelopmentconcordant/) and [Research Integrity Concordant](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/v8media/universityofexeter/governanceandcompliance/researchethicsandgovernance/the-concordat-to-support-research-integrity.pdf).

The Faculty’s Wellbeing, Inclusion and Culture Committee (WICC) was set up in 2022 to build on the work of previous Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committees.  Its remit is to focus on culture and culture change, setting the faculty’s culture, inclusion and wellbeing priorities and, in doing so, they seek to embed inclusion, wellbeing and a positive work-life balance throughout the faculty.

During your time with us, there will be the opportunity, dependent upon your career stage, to undertake leadership training to support you in your journey to becoming a research leader of the future. There are a variety of training programmes supported by the University, including [Aurora](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/staff/exeterleader/otherdevelopmentopportunities/aurora/) (Advance HE leadership development initiative for women) and [Elevate](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/departments/inclusion/support/training/elevate/) (leadership and development programme for women from minority ethnic groups).

We are an inclusive community, where everyone has the right to be treated with respect. Harassment, bullying, intimidation and discrimination (for example racism, homophobia, sexual discrimination) go against all we stand for and will not be tolerated. If you've experienced or witnessed any of the above, we encourage you to report it and to get the support you might need. Please see [Exeter Speaks Out](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/about/speakout/) for more information.
