Undergraduate entry requirements
Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Japan
Students must have completed an appropriate foundation course, such as one of our International Study Centre International Foundation courses at Exeter's Streatham Campus, or equivalent.
It may be possible to consider applicants with the two-year associate degrees (Jun-Gakushi) or the vocational degree (senmonshi).

Postgraduate entry requirements
Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Japan
Postgraduate Taught
Applicants will require a degree (Gakushi) from a recognised Japanese university with grades ranging from 60–100%.

Postgraduate Research
Applicants will require a Masters (Shushi) with grades ranging from 70%+ or B.

Scholarships and funding opportunities
We are investing over £7m in a range of scholarships to support international and EU students paying international tuition fees, who choose Exeter for their studies in 2026/27.
Our Exeter Excellence Scholarships, recognise outstanding academic achievement and support students from around the world to take their place in our vibrant, global community.
For September 2026, these merit-based scholarships are valued at:
- Undergraduate (Bachelors): £3,000 or £5,000 (recurring for each eligible year of study)
- Postgraduate Taught (Masters): £3000, £5,000 or £10,000.
