Entry requirements

The information below will allow you to check qualifications from your country or territory to see if they may be accepted for entry to the University of Exeter, and the equivalent grades required. Undergraduate entry requirements

Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Malaysia

A typical offer falls within the range AAA–ABB for A Level or STPM. 

Subject-specific requirements may be applicable, depending on the programme of study for which you apply. 

Malaysian Diploma Programme

Applications will also be considered on a case-by-case basis with completion of at least two years of a three-year Diploma Programme from an institution approved by the Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA), as follows: 

First year entry:

Direct entry into the second year:

UEC 3 (Unified Examination Certificate)

First Year Entry: 6 subjects (with subject specific grades) \ A1 - B3 (A1 A1 A1 A1 A2 A2 – A2 A2 A2 B3 B3 B3) 

Malaysian Matriculation Certificate

First Year entry: Will be considered, subject to minimum A Grade average or CGPA 3.5/4.0 

Other recognised pre-university programmes in Malaysia

Qualifications Agency (MQA) will be considered on a case by case basis.

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Malaysia

Postgraduate Taught

For direct entry onto our Masters programmes you will be required to have successfully completed a Bachelors Degree (3 or 4 years). 

First Degree 4-year Bachelors Degree
First 3.6 GPA
2:1 3.2 GPA
2:2 2.8 GPA

English Language

Students who have been awarded a degree from one the institutions listed below within the last 7 years, where they have completed their whole degree taught in English, and can provide official evidence of being taught and examined in English (medium of instruction letter or confirmation on their degree certificate), are exempt from requiring an English language test to meet their English language condition.

English language requirements for students from Malaysia

PM English 1119 exam can be accepted in lieu of IELTS but must have been completed no more than seven years prior to enrolment.
