Our courses have been designed for NHS staff and other medial and healthcare professionals to positively impact the delivery of care.
As healthcare systems are constantly evolving, practitioners need to be able to identify challenges and provide evidence-based solutions. Our graduates develop the skills needed to critically analyse situations using a wide variety of information and data while considering the wider impacts of changes to medical and health delivery.
We are proud of our vibrant and active student community that is supported by excellent pastoral and academic staff with wide-ranging opportunities to develop interdisciplinary and vocational skills.
Our degrees are highly flexible, allowing you to tailor your studies to your career ambitions. Students also have the opportunity to specialise in Global Health, Nutrition or Public Mental Health on our Master of Public Health (MPH), and Global Health, Pandemics or Antimicrobial Resistance on our MSc Environment and Human Health, or Humanitarian Relief on our MSc Extreme Medicine (Distance).
We offer a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses with the aim to improve health outcomes in the region and to facilitate real change in the quality of care. Our range of expertise means health professionals can continue to learn and develop with us over their careers. This includes our Genomic Medicine (online), which NHS staff can apply for funding from Health Education England to undertake modules on. For more information on all our CPD opportunities visit our dedicated CPD page.
The MSc in Environment and Human Health from Exeter University has been very instrumental in setting me on the right path to achieve my aspirations. Within a short time, the skills I honed during the programme have been brought to bear on a wide range of activities in Ghana and beyond.
"I joined the MSc Environment and Human Health programme at University of Exeter with the aim of acquiring a relevant qualification and skills needed to work in public health and science communication. My expectations were met as we were exposed to cutting-edge information from world-class teachers and researchers from University of Exeter Medical School, European Centre of Environment and Human Health, and other institutions.
"The course explored global health issues such as climate change, air pollution, environmental sustainability and population health, through an ecological lens. This enriched my worldview with respect to how different social determinants influence health and wellbeing at individual and population levels. In addition we were introduced to various tools and frameworks for health research, data analysis, science communication, and academic writing. Classroom work was enriched by hands-on activities and field visits.
"The environment in Cornwall is conducive for studies; you have the opportunity to be taught by highly-qualified lecturers, interact with very brilliant colleagues from diverse backgrounds, and take control of your intellectual interests. The social environment is equally intriguing as the year is loaded with activities from both the university and local communities. Though I missed home at times, I always cherished the special experience to be in such a truly unique part of the UK.
