## Entry requirements

The information below will allow you to check qualifications from your country or territory to see if they may be accepted for entry to the University of Exeter, and the equivalent grades required. Undergraduate entry requirements

### Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Ghana

If you have already completed your A levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma, you will be eligible for direct entry if you meet your chosen programme's entry requirements.

If you hold the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC), you will normally be expected to take a foundation programme, such as one of our [International Study Centre International Foundation courses](https://exeterisc.com/en/search#international-foundation) at Exeter’s Streatham Campus, to be eligible for entry onto one of our undergraduate courses.

### Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Ghana

#### Postgraduate Taught

| First Degree | 4-year Bachelor degree from National Accreditation Board (NAB) accredited universities, where GPA is out of 4.0 | 4-year Bachelor degree from National Accreditation Board (NAB) accredited universities, where GPA is out of 5.0 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| First | A 3.5–4.0 80–100% | 4.50+ 70%+ |
| 2:1 | B 3.0–3.49 70–79% | 3.50–4.49 60–69% |
| 2:2 | C 2.0–2.99 60–69% | 2.50–3.49 50–59% |

**Note:** Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology uses a percentage grading scale (not related to GPA). Percentages and their approximate UK degree class equivalent as per CGPAs out of 5.0 above.

#### Postgraduate Research

For entry onto postgraduate research programmes (including PhD) you will need to hold a relevant Masters degree, supported by a strong research proposal.

## Scholarships and funding opportunities

We are investing over £7m in a range of scholarships to support international and EU students paying international tuition fees, who choose Exeter for their studies in 2026/27.

Our [Exeter Excellence Scholarships](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/study/funding/exeterexcellence/), recognise outstanding academic achievement and support students from around the world to take their place in our vibrant, global community. 

For September 2026, these merit-based scholarships are valued at: 

- Undergraduate (Bachelors): £3,000 or £5,000 (recurring for each eligible year of study)
- Postgraduate Taught (Masters): £3000, £5,000 or £10,000.
