## What our students say
### Nicole, studying LLB Law at our Streatham Campus
#### "As a university town, which uniquely caters to students, I have found plenty of opportunities to become immersed in my community at Exeter. Apart from my Law course, I’ve found ways to enjoy my time here, which have included participating in student-led societies. I have been a member of the Asian Society, African Caribbean Society, and Muay Thai, as well as become part of the committee of both BAME Law (now BIPOC Society) and the Law Society.
#### I’ve had jobs on and off campus, as a barista at an independent coffee shop and as a Student Ambassador; these have helped me to become familiar with Exeter as a town as well as challenge myself to have new experiences and make new connections in a place that feels like a home away from home."
### Will, studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at our Streatham Campus
#### "Sport at Exeter has been an integral part of my university experience. It is the reason why I met the majority of my friends, and the reason why I have enjoyed my time here so much.
#### The University support for all sports clubs means that you are given the opportunity to excel at a sport, regardless of whether you are a beginner or have been playing for 10 years."
### Sophie, studying BA English at our Streatham Campus
#### "Throughout my degree, Exeter has really tried to mitigate the barriers that OCD has presented between me and my studies, allowing me to give my course my very best go!
#### Exeter students are also fundamental in creating a caring ethos through brilliant societies such as ‘Nightline’, ‘Mind Your Head’ and various peer support groups."
### Zachary from Hong Kong, studying BSc Economics and Finance with Industrial Experience at our Streatham Campus
#### "During my first year I stayed in Lafrowda which is often the first choice among students as it is five minutes away from campus. The application for getting accommodation is really convenient using the University’s website as I was able to list the five choices of accommodation along with the type of rooms that I preferred. Living in Lafrowda made me feel like being a part of a community as I managed to meet people that are really nice and friendly.
#### The most important part for me as an international student is to be opened up to different encounters whether this is the people you meet or the practices of your flatmates. I definitely made the most out of my university life during my first year of study!"
### Hazel studying BSc Medical Sciences at our St Luke’s Campus
#### "I returned to education for a multitude of reasons. The pandemic for one but I’d also been diagnosed with a chronic health condition, and couldn’t continue my career path. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to transfer my qualifications, but I spoke to an adviser and realised I could. Medical Sciences is a very academic course but enough of it looked like I had relevant experience.
#### I’ve had a lot of support; I’m a bit blown away by it. The mature student provision has been amazing, signposting me to services like AccessAbility which has been really helpful. Somebody rang me before I started to ask if I had any questions. To know the University wanted me there was massive. Things like getting my timetable early so I can plan childcare helps level the playing field.
#### My favourite thing is the sense of achievement from doing something that I didn’t fully think I was capable of. I’m in swinging distance of a first, coming back to education after 12 years. It feels like being atypical isn’t a problem."
### Pimonpan from Thailand studied Energy Engineering at our Penryn Campus
#### "I got into the University of Exeter through clearing. Studying BEng Energy Engineering in Penryn, Cornwall has been a great experience, including beautiful scenery, helpful and supportive staff, friendly locals, hundreds of interesting activities – off and on campus – and much more.
#### Lecturers and support staff are easy to approach and willing to help, which has helped me get the most out of university life. Not only I have I learnt a huge amount, but I also have had some wonderful experiences both academically and socially. Every single activity and lesson has made me more confident and strengthened my skills, from being a society committee member to an intern on campus."
### Molly from Devon, studying Law at our Streatham Campus
#### "I first visited the University at 14 for a residential and it sparked my ambition to get a place. I looked for a real campus and community feel as well as somewhere that would challenge me academically and provide the opportunities I need to reach my full potential.
#### I was nervous to move to a new place but as soon as I arrived, I met the people that I now consider to be my best friends. Settling in has been a challenge; understanding a new way of learning and adapting to a new level of workload is a big thing to get used to!"
### Joshua studying Politics and International Relations at our Penryn Campus
#### "I had a personal relationship with my lecturers, which meant I wasn’t put off asking them for tips on how to improve my work, in fact they encouraged it! Intimate lecture and seminar groups mean lecturers have the time and capacity to offer tailored advice.
#### The community feeling at Penryn helps foster academic and career advice, and I left the university a more rounded individual than when I arrived because of it."
