# Training pathways for registered health and social care professionals

The University of Exeter is keen to support registered health, scientific and social care professions including nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists, pharmacists and psychologists to develop their clinical or practitioner academic skills and careers.

We have an active and diverse community of professionals at various career stages, working across the University and in our partner Trusts.

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has a dedicated and growing [Department of Health and Care Professions](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/departments/hls/health-care/), which also hosts our [Academy of Nursing](https://nursing.exeter.ac.uk/). The Department leads impactful education and research in Health and Care, working closely with the NHS and local health and care providers.

Whilst registered health, scientific and care professionals are able to apply for a range of research funding, there are specific research fellowships which allow these professions to balance research and practice. Navigate the scheme below to find out more.

## What should I do if I want to apply for a fellowship?

If you’re thinking about applying to one of these schemes, and would like to be based at the University of Exeter, please contact **Professor Karen Knapp** (Lead Clinical Academic for Allied Health Professionals at Exeter) at [K.M.Knapp@exeter.ac.uk](mailto:K.M.Knapp@exeter.ac.uk) to discuss this further.
