Entry requirements

The information below will allow you to check qualifications from your country or territory to see if they may be accepted for entry to the University of Exeter, and the equivalent grades required. Undergraduate entry requirements

Undergraduate entry requirements for students from Mexico

Students with A levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, United States academic qualifications, or completion of the first year of a university degree, can apply for direct entry. See individual undergraduate courses and our USA entry requirements for more information about entry using these qualifications.

Otherwise, you will need to complete an acceptable foundation programme, such as one of our International Study Centre International Foundation courses at Exeter's Streatham Campus, or another accepted foundation programme.

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Mexico

Postgraduate Taught

The following qualifications are accepted as equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree if studied for 4 years minimum:

Our programmes require a grade equivalent to a UK Second-class Honours (2:1 or 2:2). Check individual Masters courses for exact entry requirements.

Postgraduate Research

Applicants for postgraduate research programmes such as PhD or MPhil will need to demonstrate experience of research methodologies, and will normally have completed a Masters degree equivalent with a thesis or dissertation. We accept the Maestria/Magister for consideration for entry to a postgraduate research degree.

Agent representatives

The University of Exeter has agreements with independent representatives in your country, who would be pleased to tell you more about the University's programmes and assist you in making an application. Most of our representatives offer their services to applicants for free. Those that do charge a fee must make this clear from the outset of their consultation with students and issue appropriate receipts. If you have any concerns about whether an agent is an authorised representative of the University of Exeter, please contact us. Scholarships and funding opportunities

We are investing over £7m in a range of scholarships to support international and EU students paying international tuition fees, who choose Exeter for their studies in 2026/27.

FIDERH

FIDERH is a federal trust fund managed by Banco de México. Its mission is to provide affordable loans to Mexican students to help finance their postgraduate studies.

The University has a collaboration agreement with FIDERH to offer a 20% tuition fees scholarship to students accredited by FIDERH.

Apply directly to FIDERH after receiving your Masters or PhD offer from us. Accredited students will be provided with a certificate to share with the University to access their discount.

FUNED Mexico Scholarships

FUNED (Fundación Mexicana para la Educación, la Tecnología y la Cienciais) is a non-profit private foundation that grants loans of up to $30,000 towards tuition fees, including 10% scholarship, for Mexican nationals pursuing overseas Masters programmes.

The University of Exeter is delighted to have an agreement with FUNED which offers a 20% tuition fee discount to FUNED scholars. You will need an offer letter from Exeter and scholarship applications are submitted via FUNED. Please see the FUNED website for further information and full eligibility criteria.
