# Trusted Research Guidance

## This page provides links to resources on Trusted Research.

Trusted Research guidance can help researchers have confidence in international collaborations.

Trusted Research is advice and guidance that was originally created in 2019 by the [National Protective Security Authority (NPSA)](https://www.npsa.gov.uk/) and the [National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)](https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/) to support the integrity of the system of international research collaboration.

The guidance was created in consultation with the academic sector and since 2019, the NPSA and the NCSC have continued to work collaboratively with the sector to develop further iterations of the guidance. The guidance sets out to:

- **Outline the risks** to UK research and innovation
- **Help researchers**, UK universities and industry to have confidence in international collaboration and make **informed decisions** around those potential risks
- **Explain** how to protect research and staff from potential theft, misuse or exploitation

You can [access the NPSA’s Trusted Research guidance online](https://www.npsa.gov.uk/trusted-research). You can also [find out more using the ‘Guidance for Academia’ booklet](https://www.npsa.gov.uk/trusted-research-academia). A ‘Countries and Conferences’ guidance booklet can be accessed [here](https://www.npsa.gov.uk/trusted-research-countries-and-conferences).

The NPSA have also published a series of short [Case Study Videos](https://www.npsa.gov.uk/specialised-guidance/trusted-research/implementation-scenario-videos) covering a range of trusted research scenarios.
