We are aware of the importance of sustainability and climate action to our university community and commit to sustainability principles and practice in how we operate, educate and engage.

Professional practice

As the Careers Team within University of Bath, we recognise our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to sustainability and environmental wellbeing. We pledge to review and adapt the practices and actions within our control.

Our commitment

We aim to be part of positive change and will strive to model and encourage responsible behaviours that support a more sustainable future for our students, colleagues, and wider community. To that end we engage proactively and positively with the following groups and initiatives:

Fairs and events

Throughout the academic year we host and promote a number of sustainability-related events and activities, which can help shape students’ career thinking and journeys.

We consider sustainability and ethical considerations in student engagement and recruitment activities where possible. This is evident in our comprehensive guidance for employers exhibiting at our fairs.

We value events where face-to-face interaction is facilitated and understand the importance to both students and recruiters. We are mindful of costs and impacts of in-person attendance so encourage and facilitate online and virtual engagement through alternative means as well:

Ongoing commitments

In shaping our employer engagement activity, we continuously review our approach to ensure it reflects the needs of our student population, the values and strategy of the University, and the realities of the world of work.

Our goal is to provide a balanced, inclusive, and forward-looking employer engagement strategy that empowers students to research the sustainability credentials and policies of the employers we work with, while maintaining freedom of choice and acknowledging that change can be made from within organisations.
