Emerald Publishing Open Access Publishing Agreement

Agreement duration:The UNSW agreement is from 1 January 2026 - 31 December 2026. A previous one-year agreement was in place during 2025.

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement from 1 January 2026 - 31 December 2026.

Summary:Emerald Publishing is one of the world's leading digital-first publishers, commissioning curating and showcasing research that can make a difference. They publish mission led social science research that tackles key societal challenges aligned with UN SDGs. There is no limit on the number of articles that can be published by UNSW corresponding authors under the agreement

Emerald Management eJournal Portfolio

Emerald Education eJournal Collection

Emerald Engineering eJournal Collection

Emerald Health and Social Care eJournal Collection

Any Emerald Gold open access Journals available are also included.

Information for authors:This agreement includes all current UNSW researchers including HDR candidates and must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible and to help verify affiliation. This agreement allows researchers to publish open access under a CC BY licence or other open access licence agreed between the Eligible Author and the Publisher.  UNSW RingGold is 7800.

Eligible article types:Content that is accepted for publication by the Publisher in accordance with the applicable acceptance criteria (including editorial and peer review standards).

Sharing via repositories:To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author will need to retain the rights to either the Published Version of Record or Author Accepted Manuscript, and deposit into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

  1. The UNSW corresponding author should follow the usual article submission process via the publisher website. This is the step-by-step guide.

  2. On acceptance of the article, the publisher will ask the corresponding author to complete a form (publishing agreement).

  3. On acceptance of the manuscript, the payment system will allow UNSW corresponding authors to choose UNSW as their institution and remove the open access fee. Articles from authors at participating institutions will be published under a CC BY licence.

  4. To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author will need to retain the rights to either the Published Version of Record or Author Accepted Manuscript, and deposit into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.

Corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses(e.g. Hotmail, Gmail)or email addresses affiliated with other organisations, research centres or institutes.Otherwise they may be ineligible under the terms of this agreement.
