Remy Faint: A Site of Unfolding
Remy Faint is an Australian artist working across painting, sculpture, ceramics, and installation. ‘A Site of Unfolding’ features a new series of assembled and fragmented painting constructions that expand the languages of painterly abstraction by examining its global histories.
Employing inversion as a creative and conceptual device, Faint explores how objects, surfaces, and references can be split, dispersed, or suspended. Works incorporate materials connected to the artist’s Chinese heritage, including silk, clay, wood, and pigments, and allude to objects drawn from both personal sources and public collections. Painterly gestures and layered forms evoke silhouettes and shadows that hold multiple narratives, making visible what is often unseen.
‘A Site of Unfolding’ invites a shift in perspective, reflecting on fractured and speculative ideas surrounding identity, inheritance, and cultural memory. By layering objects, forms, and materials across geographies and temporalities, Faint reframes connections to imagined sites of belonging.\
