Rockefeller University Press Open Access Publishing Agreement

Agreement duration:The UNSW agreement is from 1 January 2026 - 31 December 2028. A previous three-year agreement was in place during 2023 to 2025. 

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement are eligible to be published open access under the terms of the agreement.

Summary: Rockefeller University Press is a non-profit publisher that publishes research in the life sciences and biomedicine fields. There is no limit on the number of articles that may be published by UNSW corresponding authors open access under this agreement.

Titles included: Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Journal of General Physiology.

Information for authors: UNSW corresponding authors must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible under this agreement. UNSW's Research Organisation Registry (ROR) identifier will also be used to affiliate correctly. All publishing fees are included in this agreement. Refer to the Rockefeller University Press UNSW page. For journal response times between submission and acceptance, you should check the specific journal guidelines for accurate information.

Eligible article types:Article, Brief Definitive Report, Communication, Hypothesis, Methods and Approaches, Report, Technical Advances and Resources, and Tools.

Sharing via repositories:This agreement aligns with UNSW's Open Access policy however, there is no automated loading to UNSWorks. Papers are deposited directly to PubMed Central (PMC) and subsequently to Europe PMC.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

  1. The UNSW corresponding author should follow the usual article submission process via the journal webpage.
  2. On acceptance of the article, the publisher will ask the corresponding author to complete a form (publishing agreement).
  3. On acceptance of the manuscript, the payment system will allow UNSW corresponding authors to choose UNSW as their institution and remove the open access fee. Articles from authors at participating institutions will be published under a CC BY licence.
  4. To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author will need to retain the rights to either the Published Version of Record or Author Accepted Manuscript, and deposit into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.

Corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses(e.g. Hotmail, Gmail) or email addresses affiliated with other organisations, research centres or institutes.Otherwise they may be ineligible under the terms of this agreement.
