Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

UNSW has experienced high demand for 2026 entry, reflecting the University’s strong reputation and graduate outcomes. As a result, many of our programs have now reached capacity and have closed for the remaining January and February UAC offer rounds. Students who have already had an opportunity to apply and be considered for an offer to UNSW in the December Round 2 UAC offer round will not be considered in the remaining offer rounds.

In order to ensure fairness for all applicants, those who were unable to be assessed for an offer in December Round 2 or January Round 1 due to their qualification results not being available in time (such as for some interstate and New Zealand applicants) may still be considered for an offer in January Round 2, even to programs that are closed. - What are the entry requirements to study at UNSW?

It all depends on the program you want to study, whether it’s undergraduate or postgraduate, or whether it’s a coursework degree or research degree. Normally, you need to meet both academic entry requirements and English language entry requirements to get an offer. However, some programs may have additional selection criteria.

Our dedicated degree page is the ultimate tool for you to find the perfect UNSW degree you want to study and everything you need to know before you apply. - Is there an internship/placement opportunity within UNSW degrees?

The simple answer is yes. Depending on the degree you study, you may also be required to complete practical study units to finish your program.

As a university that produces the most employable graduates in the world, UNSW offers plenty of internship and work placement opportunities internally or externally in collaboration with our industry partners in Australia and globally.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at UNSW enables our students to gain real-world work experience while earning credits for their degree. WIL is available in all the six UNSW Faculties with plenty of overseas placement opportunities via UNSW Study Abroad and Exchange Office. That means you can get hands-on work experience while you study remotely. - Can I transfer my credits from prior study to a UNSW degree?

If you gain entry into a program at UNSW, you may be eligible for credit for courses (subjects) studied at another institution, including university or TAFE.

Credit transfer is also known as 'advanced standing' or recognition for prior learning (RPL). Visit our Credit Transfer page to learn more about our guidelines for credit transfer and how to apply. - Can I use live chat to ask UNSW questions?

Unfortunately, our live chat is currently unavailable. Please call or email us and one of our friendly Future Student Advisers can help you.

Do you know UNSW accepts secondary qualifications of certain overseas countries? Simply switch the country that you obtained a secondary qualification in the “Entry requirements” section of the degree you want to apply on the degree page. Our website will let you know if you are eligible to apply via international direct entry. We encourage you to contact us for more information on what qualifications you may need to meet entry. - What are the English requirements to study at UNSW?

Taking English language tests is not the only way to meet our requirements. You may be eligible to apply for a waiver of English language requirements if you meet certain criteria listed on our website. Or you may choose to complete an Academic English program at UNSW College before you start studying with us. - Exams have been cancelled in my country. Do you accept predicted grades?

Yes, we do – but only for A Levels or the IB Diploma results. The total predicted aggregate must be two points higher than the total final aggregate required for admission.

Results must be printed on official school letterhead and include the institution stamp and signature of the Principal, Registrar or Academic Director. Results should be dated after 1 January for entry in Term 3 (September intake), and after 1 June for Term 1 (February intake).

You may find more on our international website and you are encouraged to reach out to us to get personalised advice. - What scholarships are there for international students and how do I get one? Do I have to get a good mark?

As an international student, you can access plenty of scholarship opportunities at UNSW – some are international-student-exclusive!

UNSW has a wide range of international scholarships that are designed to support international students just like you. Some of the scholarships don’t even require a separate application! That means, upon acceptance of your UNSW offer, you will be automatically considered for a scholarship. Check out the great opportunities and selection criteria on our UNSW Scholarship website today.
