Taylor & Francis Open Access Publishing Agreement

Agreement duration:The UNSW agreement is from 1st January 2026 - 31st December 2028. A previous three-year agreement was in place during 2023 to 2025.

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement 1st January 2026 - 31st December 2028.

Summary:Taylor & Francis Online provides access to cross-disciplinary peer-reviewed journals across humanities and social sciences, science and technology, medicine and healthcare, and engineering fields of research. The agreement will allow UNSW affiliated authors to publish their research open access in Open Select Journals (hybrid) and Open Journals. NB: journals that change from hybrid to fully open during the course of the agreement also remain available for open access publishing. This is an uncapped agreement. 

Titles included: 2026 Taylor & Francis Read and Publish Title List. This does notinclude journals or platforms published under the Dove Press, PeerJ and F1000 imprints.

Information for authors: Refer to theauthor publishing journey. Further, UNSW corresponding authors must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible under this agreement. This agreement allows researchers to publish open access under a CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND licence. There may be additional page charges that remain payable by the corresponding author. There is a 10% discount for eligible UNSW corresponding authors on APCs on journal titles outside of this agreement. For journal response times between submission and acceptance you should check the specific journal guidelines for accurate information.

Eligible article types: Article, review, research article, review article, report, short communication, case report note, original article, guest editorial.

Sharing via repositories:Please note, UNSW corresponding authors can simply comply with the Open Access policy by retaining the rights to the Author Accepted Manuscript and depositing a copy into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

  1. The UNSW corresponding author should follow the usual article submission process via the journals homepage or search via Taylor & Francis online journals and provide their official UNSW institutional affiliation and official UNSW email address.
  2. The submitted article will go through thorough peer review.
  3. If the article is accepted, the publisher will ask the corresponding author to complete an Author Publishing Agreement.
  4. On acceptance of the manuscript, the payment system will allow UNSW corresponding authors to choose UNSW as their institution and request open access funding.
  5. The UNSW corresponding author will sign the Author Publisher Agreement. Taylor & Francis will advise if the article has been approved or declined under the OA publishing agreement.
  6. Articles from corresponding authors at participating institutions will be published under a CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND licence.

Corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail) or email addresses affiliated with other organisations, research centres or institutes. Otherwise they may be ineligible under the terms of this agreement.
