Instructions for QuestBridge Finalists Not Ranking Yale

Congratulations on being named a QuestBridge Finalist! Although you have opted not to participate in the College Match, you may still apply to Yale for free in either Single-Choice Early Action or Regular Decision, using the QuestBridge Application you have already completed. If you share your QuestBridge Application with Yale, please do not submit an additional Common Application or Coalition Application to Yale.

Sharing your QuestBridge application is easy, but the process is slightly different for Single-Choice Early Action and Regular Decision. Please read the instructions below carefully to ensure Yale receives your QuestBridge application materials for the appropriate round.

Single-Choice Early Action

Application Deadline: Nov 1. Financial Aid Deadline: Nov 1.

Students who apply to Yale for Single-Choice Early Action may not apply to other private universities’ early admissions programs. Early Action applicants learn in mid-December if they have been admitted, denied, or deferred.

• Admitted applicants have until May 1 to respond to Yale’s non-binding offer of admission.
• Denied applicants will have their applications closed.
• Deferred applicants receive another full round of review in the Regular Decision round and receive a final admissions decision at the end of March.

To share your QuestBridge Application with Yale for Single-Choice Early Action (QuestBridge Finalists only):

• Email apply.questions@yale.edu from the email address listed on your QuestBridge application by November 1.
• In the email, please include your QuestBridge ID number and the following text: “I am a QuestBridge Finalist, and I would like to share my QuestBridge National College Match Application with Yale for consideration in Yale’s Single-Choice Early Action program. I have reviewed the policies outlined at admissions.yale.edu/single-choice-early-action. I will neither rank any colleges for the QuestBridge National College Match, nor submit any early action or early decision applications to other colleges or universities that would violate Yale’s single-choice early action policy.”

On or around November 1, you will receive a confirmation email that will prompt you to activate your Yale Admissions Status Portal.

Regular Decision

Application Deadline: Jan 2. Financial Aid Deadline: Feb 15.

If you would like to apply to multiple schools at the same time, or you want some additional time to put together your application, Regular Decision is right for you. All Regular Decision application materials are due by January 2 and decisions will be released at the end of March. Regular Decision applicants learn in March if they have been admitted, denied, or placed on Yale’s waiting list. Admitted applicants have until May 1 to respond to the non-binding offer of admission. Denied applicants will have their applications closed. Applicants placed on the waiting list receive a final admissions decision by the end of the spring.

To share your QuestBridge Application with Yale for Regular Decision, complete the QuestBridge Regular Decision Form.This form will be available online via the QuestBridge website and is due to QuestBridge December 11. A few days after completing the Regular Decision Form, you will receive a confirmation email that will prompt you to activate your Yale Admissions Status Portal. 

Admissions officers evaluate all applications the same way, regardless of when students choose to apply. Required Material to Complete Your Application to Yale

By sharing your QuestBridge Application with Yale, the admissions office will automatically receive your essays, letters of recommendation, extracurricular information, household information, and academic information including your transcript. You already sent all that information to QuestBridge, so you won’t need to resend any of that material to Yale.

To complete your applications for admissions and financial aid, submit the following material:

Admissions Materials:

• QuestBridge Testing Choice Form - Complete this form to indicate which standardized test score(s) you would like the Yale Admissions Committee to consider with your application. Yale has a test-flexible policy. Applicants can fulfill Yale’s standardized testing requirement with four types of tests: ACT, SAT, AP exams, or completed IB exams. Complete this form as soon as possible after activating your Yale admissions status portal.
• Yale QuestBridge Questionnaire available via the Yale Admissions status portal after your application has been received. The Questionnaire will ask you to identify up to three Yale majors that interest you, and to reflect on your academic interests and your interest in Yale. The specific questions can be found at admissions.yale.edu/essay-topics.
• The Midyear School Report with first semester or trimester grades, when they are available. For most students this is not until January or February. The Midyear report is not due until final grades for a completed semester or trimester are available at your school. Your school counselor may use the QuestBridge Midyear Report Form (available on the QuestBridge website in December) or simply mail, fax, or upload an updated transcript to the Yale Admissions Office.

Financial Aid Materials:

• The 2026-2027 CSS Profile Application. Complete and submit this form electronically. If your parents are not together, your non-custodial parent should submit the online Noncustodial Profile using the login ID and password you will receive after completing the Profile. If you have no contact with your noncustodial parent, you may request to waive the requirement of their financial information. Your request must include a statement from a third party who can verify your situation.
• Your parents’ 2024 federal income tax returns (signed, with all schedules, attachments, W-2s, and other earnings statements, plus corporate/partnership tax returns, if applicable.) Send using College Board’s IDOC Service, which you may access next week after submitting the CSS Profile.
• The 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete and submit this form electronically. Yale’s FAFSA code is 001426.
