The action plan included six broad areas: scholarship, research, practice, and teaching; diversity of the Yale community; equitable process, procedure, and responses; professional and personal development of inclusive practice; acknowledgment, recognition, and respect; and communication, transparency, and accountability. The plan addressed the interests and needs of staff, faculty, students, and alumni.

Every school and administrative division participated in Belonging at Yale through unit-specific activities. The collaborative effort of the whole community is reflected in past annual reports.
