# Qualtrics LTI Removal - May 2026

## When

The Qualtrics LTI, which supports the direct integration, distribution, and collection of Qualtrics Surveys in a Canvas course site, will be removed from all Yale Canvas instances on **May 19, 2026**.

## Why

Our decision not to continue with the Qualtrics LTI is informed by a collection of factors including:

- Overall low adoption and usage paired with relative complexity of the Qualtrics LTI integration.
- Canvas now offers support for [anonymous surveys through New Quizzes](https://community.instructure.com/en/kb/articles/664236-how-do-i-create-a-survey-using-new-quizzes).
- Changes to the institutional contract with Qualtrics resulting in a focus on research-based use cases rather than teaching & learning use cases.

## What will happen to my Qualtrics Surveys and response data?

No surveys or survey data will be impacted with the removal of the Qualtrics LTI. Qualtrics surveys are not stored in Canvas or the Qualtrics LTI, and any existing surveys and their data will remain intact directly through your Yale Qualtrics Account.

Access to surveys and responses through Canvas will be removed, as will the ability to assign Qualtrics surveys through the Canvas Assignment tool, but providing a direct link to that same survey will remain an option.

## Next Steps

While the Qualtrics LTI remains available through the end of the Spring 2026 semester, we highly encourage users to begin the planning and migration process to other survey tools prior to the May 2026 removal date.

For those who wish to continue using existing Qualtrics surveys in Canvas, you can share the survey URL / link with your students directly.
