Since January 19, 2026, Dr. Tim Sieker has strengthened the team of the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering as a postdoctoral researcher.
Dr. Sieker completed his studies in Molecular Biotechnology at Bielefeld University and earned his doctorate at the Bioprocess Engineering department of TU Kaiserslautern. In his PhD research, he focused on developing a biorefinery for producing ethanol and lactic acid from grass silage, fermenting wood hydrolysates into organic dicarboxylic acids, and utilizing municipal biowaste. He continued his work on producing lactic acid from grass silage as a postdoc.
He then moved into industry, where he worked as a fermentation engineer and deputy head of the Fermentation Pilot Plant at Clariant Produkte GmbH, focusing on the development and scaling of fermentation processes and the digitization of lab workflows.
