Prof. Anja Faße studied horticultural science at the Leibniz University of Hanover. In 2013 she completed her doctorate on bioenergy and value chains in Tanzania at the Institute for Environmental Economics and World Trade at the Faculty of Economics of Leibniz Universität Hannover. There she focused on agroforestry, rural agricultural value chains, sustainability, poverty and food security in sub-Saharan Africa.

After completing her doctorate, she coordinated research projects there focusing on the impact assessment of implemented innovations along local agricultural value chains on the well-being of the rural population in Kenya and Tanzania. In 2016 Anja Faße was appointed to the Chair of Environmental Policy and Resource Economics at the Straubing Science Centre, now the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability (TUMCS). She is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Environmental Economics and World Trade at Leibniz Universität Hannover and has second memberships at the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability and at the TUM School of Management.
