### Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Hammes' research focus is the area of plant membrane transport. The main interests are the transport of hormones, particularly auxin, as well as the transport of metabolites such as amino acids and sugars.

Prof. Hammes studied biology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. After receiving his diploma in 1999, he also received his doctorate in 2002 from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. After post-doctoral stays as a DFG scholarship holder at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, MO (USA) and at FAU Erlangen, Prof. Hammes completed his habilitation at the University of Regensburg. Prof. Hammes has been at TUM since 2017. Prof. Hammes has been an adjunct professor at TUM since 2024.
